As Co-Chairs of the bipartisan
Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission (TLHRC), we invite you to join the Commission for the 116th Congress. Named for the late Congressman Tom Lantos, a stalwart human rights defender, the Commission was established in 2008 by
H. Res. 1451 by unanimous consent and tasked with promoting, defending and advocating in a nonpartisan manner for internationally recognized human rights norms as enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Commission helps raise the visibility
of human rights issues on the Hill and serves as a resource to Members of Congress and their offices by holding hearings, briefings and special events, advocating for prisoners of conscience, circulating letters, issuing statements and developing policy recommendations.
