Restore Transparency and Accountability in the Executive Branch

While the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) is charged with monitoring ethics compliance at federal agencies and the White House, it presently acts only in an advisory capacity. OGE identifies violations of ethics laws and regulations but lacks the authority
to compel compliance. To fulfill its mission of guaranteeing compliance with high ethical standards throughout the Executive Branch, OGE needs to be reformed and empowered to make compliance real.

his office? Earlier this week, Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) observed that Trump is an “utterly untruthful President” who has “proven himself unable to rise to the occasion” and suggested that the White House has turned into an “adult daycare center.” Senator
Jeff Flake (R-AZ) took to the Senate floor to describe Trump’s “reckless, outrageous, and undignified behavior” as “dangerous to democracy” and called him an “unstable presence in American political life.” Senator John McCain (R-AZ) has been blowing the whistle
on the President’s abusive and dangerous behavior for months and has not allowed his personal fight with brain cancer to slow him down.  Meantime, thousands of psychiatrists, psychologists and other mental health professionals have formed a new national group
called Duty to Warn, which states flatly that Trump is “psychologically incapable of competently discharging the duties of the president of the United States.”
