Combat the Rising Price of Insulin: Become a Cosponsor of the bipartisan Insulin Price Reduction Act

In 1921, inventors Frederick Banting, Charles Best, and John MacLeod discovered insulin and subsequently sold the patent for a mere $1; their intent was to make insulin affordable for all those who need it. Unfortunately, rising insulin prices have been
a growing concern for people with diabetes and their families in recent years. Between 2012 and 2016, the average list price of insulin nearly doubled. According to the Health Care Cost Institute, the price of an average 40-day supply of insulin rose from
$344 in 2012 to $666 in 2016. This dramatic price growth comes on top of significant price increases between 2002 and 2013, when insulin list prices nearly tripled. Recent research suggests that insulin list prices are growing at significantly faster rates
than the growth of net prices, after accounting for rebates that insulin manufacturers pay to pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) and insurers. These substantial rebates have helped drive list price increases because these rebates are based on a percentage of
the list price. As PBMs and insurers require a greater percentage rebate off of list prices, it creates incentives for manufacturers to increase list prices.

We Need Olympics Reform Now! – DOJ Now Investigating Sex Abuse Within Olympic Organizations

Over the past several decades, the Olympic movement has strayed from its roots. The time is now to take a serious look at the USOPC and if it is fulfilling its mission as outlined by the Ted Stevens Amateur Sports Act. As several Congressional and private
investigations revealed, United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee officials were more concerned with protecting the Olympics brand and producing medals than athlete’s health and well being. The time is right to take an Olympics wide accounting of the
underlying culture that lead to the multiple sexual abuse scandals plaguing the Olympics community.
A Congressionally mandated Commission will allow experts in sports governance, coaching, child welfare and abuse to address these issues in a timely manner, free from politics.
