Original co-sponsor deadline Wednesday, May 24: Healthcare Opportunities for Patriots in Exile (HOPE) Act of 2017

Please join me by co-sponsoring legislation to allow deported veterans the opportunity to temporarily parole back into the United States to seek care from a VA facility. There has been a long tradition of foreign-born soldiers who have served in the U.S.
military since the founding of the republic. Many of these individuals enlist in the military under the false belief that military service will automatically make them U.S. citizens. For these individuals, low-level offenses they commit often result in removal.
This effectively denies these veterans the medical care they require.

Become an Original Cosponsor of the Ghost Army Congressional Gold Medal Act!

During World War 2, the United States Army operated two top-secret units that specialized in tactical decisions. These units, known as the “Ghost Army,” were so imperative to key Allied victories that afterward, a U.S. Army analysis found that “Rarely, if
ever, has there been a group of such a few men which had so great an influence on the outcome of a major military campaign.”

Close 90/10 Loophole & Co-Sponsor Ensuring Quality Education for Veterans Act (Deadline: May 24)

I urge you to join me protecting our service members and their spouses from predatory for-profit colleges by co-sponsoring the Ensuring Quality Education for Veterans Act which treats Department of Defense (DOD) tuition assistance and spousal benefits as
federal funds. Our men and women in uniform receive tuition assistance from the DOD when they enroll in higher education. But their hard-earned benefits are often a target of for-profit colleges, who will aggressively enroll service members by misrepresenting
their job prospects upon graduation and the quality of the education they can expect to receive.

Deadline COB Wednesday, May 24: Naturalization at Training Sites (NATS) Act of 2017

Please join me by co-sponsoring legislation helps identify active and retired non-citizen servicemembers. There has been a long tradition of foreign-born soldiers who have served in the U.S. military since the founding of the republic. Many of these individuals
enlist in the military under the false belief that military service will automatically make them U.S. citizens. Since many of these individuals who enlist in the military do so as a Legal Permanent Resident (LPR), they are eligible to naturalize during or
after their service. Unfortunately, the federal government has failed to adequately inform them of the necessary steps for naturalization.

Support the STEP for Veterans Act

Please join me as a cosponsor of the Service, Training, Education, and Preparation (STEP) for Veterans Act

The STEP for Veterans Act would provide veterans with the training they need to fill positions that businesses are having trouble finding qualified applicants for.

I would like to invite you to become a co-sponsor of H.R. 154, “Honoring our WWII Merchant Mariners Act of 2017.”  In every war fought by the United States, civilian ships have supported military operations by transporting supplies and personnel. The civilians
that have served on these vessels have worked in varying capacities either for private shipping companies under contract with the federal government or for the government itself. These civilians are collectively referred to as Merchant Mariners.
