Support Your District’s Student Farmers

May 17, 2017

According to the latest agricultural census, the average farmer is 58 years old, and it is trending upward. With the growing need for farmers, we must encourage America’s young farmers to remain in the farming
business.

Support Our Youth: Cosponsor H.R. 2208 and H.R. 2209

May 17, 2017

Our young people are the future of this nation. Unfortunately, many of our underserved and at-risk youth face employment barriers including discrimination, homelessness, and involvement with the juvenile or criminal justice system. The resulting unemployment
makes it harder for these young people to find and maintain jobs later in life. According to the Brookings Institution, in 2016, 3 million youth in the United States between the ages of 16-24 were out of school and out of work. We must do more to break down
employment barriers and facilitate youth employment.

Become a Member of the Congressional Microbusiness Caucus

May 17, 2017

You are cordially invited to become a member of the bipartisan Congressional Microbusiness Caucus.  The purpose of the Caucus is to elevate the narrative of microbusinesses in Congress and provide a forum for microbusiness owners to have candid conversations

law.

Middle Neighborhoods Briefing

May 12, 2017

Join us for a conversation about “Middle Neighborhoods” on
Thursday, May 18th from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM in
2360 Rayburn HOB.  Middle neighborhoods are community areas on the edge between growth and decline.
These are neighborhoods where housing is typically affordable and where quality of life—measured by employment rates, crime rates, and school performance—is sufficiently good so that new home buyers are willing to play the odds and choose these neighborhoods
over others in hopes they will improve rather than decline.

May 10, 2017

Cosponsor H.R. 2014- the Tax Pollution, Not Profits Act

May 10, 2017

To accomplish anything in Congress, we have to come together, setting aside ideology, and forge compromises for the good of the nation.  That has been my guiding principle since coming to Congress, and it’s the guiding principle behind my new legislation,
the Tax Pollution, Not Profits Act.  Currently we have two huge forces working against economic growth: our extremely high corporate tax rate and the existential threat of climate change.  This legislation seeks to solve both problems at the same time.
