Cosponsor H.R.4355, the Corey Jones Act of 2016

During the early hours of October 18, 2015, Corey Jones of Lake Worth, Florida was shot and killed by a plainclothes police officer operating an unmarked vehicle. Mr. Jones was legally and peacefully pulled to the side of the road awaiting roadside assistance when he was approached by the officer. Mr. Jones had no reason to believe that the person in plainclothes was a law enforcement officer. This uncertainty and confusion ultimately led to a tragedy that could have been easily avoided.

Help to Incentivize Excellence in Medicare (v. 2)

Medicare Advantage has a star rating system for its plans; they range from 5 stars to 1. A 5 star rating is considered excellent care, and a 1 is considered poor. The Affordable Care Act tied performance on this system to payment by allowing plans to earn a higher bonus based on a contract’s star score. Four and five star plans are eligible to receive bonuses. However, payment was capped at pre-ACA rates regardless of a contract’s star score, under the Affordable Care Act.
