Support Air Traffic Noise and Pollution Expert Consensus Act

Communities nationwide continue to report the debilitating impact of airplane noise resulting from revised flight paths implemented under
the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) so-called “Next Generation Air Transportation System.” As the FAA further attempts to implement this misguided program, it is imperative that the Administration and Congress receive the most updated and
comprehensive scientific information on the health impacts of air traffic noise and pollution.

COSPONSOR H.R. 1592, the Holding Health Insurers Harmless Act

President Trump is expected to sign an executive order to allow the formation of association health plans that would allow individuals and small businesses to band together to form a large group insurance market. This would exempt them from the ACA’s requirement
that individual and small group plans cover essential health benefits. The underlying idea of the executive order is to return to the pre-ACA days when insurers could sell a much wider variety of products on the individual market. However, the President does
not need to bypass Congress to fix our health care system when I have already introduced a bill that allows insurance companies to offer plans outside of the ACA’s burdensome regulations.

Cosponsor the Gun Violence Research Act (H.R. 1478)

I respectfully invite you to cosponsor H.R. 1478, the Gun Violence Research Act.  The bill would repeal a longstanding provision in federal appropriations law to ensure that the CDC and other HHS agencies can sponsor evidence-based research into
the causes of gun incidents and ways to reduce gun deaths and injuries.  This research would inform policymakers as they consider whether to enact legislation that both lowers gun violence and protects the constitutional rights of law-abiding gun owners.
A Newsweek article on the bill is
here.
