Stop De-regulation of Firearm Exports

The proliferation of firearms and other small arms to terrorist groups and transnational criminal organizations poses a significant threat to our national security. Currently, the State Department is in charge of reviewing applications for licenses to export
small arms and light weapons. However, the administration is proposing to transfer this oversight authority to the Commerce Department; under a rule expected to in early 2018, the administration would begin to move items from the United States Munitions List
(which is managed by the State Department) to the Commerce Control List (which is managed by the Commerce Department).

As 2017 comes to an end, some 650,000 Rohingya have fled Rakhine state in Burma (Myanmar) due to a brutal military campaign underway since last August. Hundreds of Rohingya villages have been burned and thousands of people have been killed. The ongoing atrocities

Protect Democracy in Honduras

On November 26th, Honduras held its national elections and on Sunday, Honduras’s Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) announced the results – Juan Orlando Hernandez, the sitting President, was declared the winner. This result was announced following severe irregularities
and inconsistencies, along with widespread allegations of fraud. These irregularities and inconsistencies were so prevelant that the Organization of American States has called for a new election, stating that a new election is the only way route to hearing
the will of the Honduran people.

Cosponsor Bipartisan Bill to Apply Terrorist Sanctions to Iran’s Iraqi Proxies

With terrorist sanctions now applied to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), it’s high time to apply the same penalties to Tehran’s proxies in Iraq and Syria. Two proxies in particular, As-Saib Ahl Al-Haq (AAH) and Harakat Hizballah Al-Nujaba,
have become the leading instruments for Iran’s regional strategy. Targeting these groups will be one additional step towards countering Iran’s expansionism and signaling to our Iraqi partners that it must not permit its citizens to be used as pawns by the
