Ensuring equal access to the ballot box is more important than ever in light of several recent federal court decisions that have found numerous voter ID laws as well as Congressional and state legislative district maps unconstitutionally discriminatory.
During the last election, an
estimated 400,000 voters in six states alone did not cast their ballots because of the implementation of strict voter ID laws. In addition, a combination of gerrymandering and voter ID laws created barriers that prevented many first time
voters, elderly, disabled, and minority citizens from their Constitutional right to vote.
