Briefing 12/17: Migration Trends in the Western Hemisphere (v. 2)

A recent Pew Research Center analysis showed that more Mexican immigrants have returned to Mexico from the U.S. than have migrated here in the past five years. Central Americans continue to leave their countries in large numbers, but they are increasingly turned back in Mexico before they can make it to the United States. Meanwhile, thousands of Cubans are attempting the trek to the United States because they fear losing their special immigration status due to the thaw in U.S.-Cuba
relations.
