Sending Office: Honorable David Scott
Please join me in urging House Leadership to provide funding for mortgage relief in the next COVID-19 legislative package. In the wake of the global pandemic, our homeowners desperately need assistance to help make ends meet.
As I’m sure you are aware, this pandemic has adversely affected many facets of American life. Americans are all taking the necessary steps to protect each other’s health and safety, and our families are experiencing unprecedented job interruptions, unemployment,
and increased pay uncertainty. As we continue to face this pandemic, Congress must act to keep Americans in their homes as this National crisis ensues.
In order to address these challenges, I am urging the establishment of a Homeowner Assistance Fund to aid homeowners across all 50 states, DC, and U.S. territories. The funds authorized would support programs delivering relief to struggling homeowners through
mortgage payment assistance, principal reduction, reinstatement of mortgages following a period of forbearance, and utility payment assistance. Given recent and dramatic surges in unemployment claims, this bill provides an essential resource to keep families
in their homes and stabilize communities throughout the enduring effects of this crisis.
I encourage you to join me in aiding homeowners impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic by supporting the inclusion of this critical funding in the next COVID-19 package. The deadline to sign on is COB on Monday, May 4th. To sign on, please fill out the
FORM HERE. For more information, please contact Catherine Kuerbitz at email@example.com.
Member of Congress
The Honorable Nancy Pelosi The Honorable Kevin McCarthy
Speaker Minority Leader
United States House of Representatives United States House of Representatives
Washington, DC 20515 Washington, DC 20515
Dear Speaker Pelosi and Leader McCarthy:
As you consider legislative priorities for upcoming stimulus packages to mitigate the economic impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we respectfully urge you to include direct support to states for homeowner assistance.
Americans are taking the necessary steps to protect each other’s health and safety, and consequently, they are experiencing unprecedented job interruptions, record-breaking unemployment, and increased pay uncertainty. In the wake of the global COVID-19 pandemic,
our homeowners desperately need assistance to help make ends meet.
In order to address these challenges, we urge the establishment of a $75 billion Homeowner Assistance Fund to aid homeowners across all 50 states, DC, and U.S. territories. These funds would be used to provide homeowners with mortgage payment assistance,
principal reduction, reinstatement of mortgages following a period of forbearance, and utility payment assistance. These funds will be administered directly by the states, which desperately need our help and additional funding to keep people in their homes
with their lights, electricity, water, and gas working.
Homeownership is the foundation of a family’s economic security. Well-anchored families build strong communities, and in turn support their local economies. As we navigate this National crisis, it is vital that the federal government help keep hardworking
Americans in their homes.
We sincerely appreciate your help in getting this badly needed, critical funding to our states and territories to help our people stay in their homes and keep their utilities on. We thank you very much for your attention to this issue.
