HELP PRESERVE STORIES OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Co-sponsor the COVID-19 Oral History Act

Cosponsors: Reps. McGovern, Jackson Lee

Dear Colleague,

Please join me in preserving stories about the COVID-19 pandemic at the Library of Congress. The COVID-19 Oral History Project Act would establish an oral history program at the American Folklife Center within the Library of Congress to collect stories and
personal experiences, including letters, diaries, video and audio recordings, related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The continued spread of this virus and its global impact is troubling. COVID-19 has changed our current way of life and will have lasting impacts on our society and our economy. As a public health expert, I believe we have a responsibility to preserve the
stories of health care workers, first responders, and others who have been directly affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Recording the personal accounts of these brave men and women and sharing the stories of our lost loved ones is an important part of the recovery process. There are a lot of lessons to be learned from our response to the COVID-19 pandemic and these stories
of our nation coming together at a time when we are physically apart can help us and future generations understand the realities of a global pandemic.

I hope that you will join me in cosponsoring this timely legislation. If you would like to co-sponsor or have questions about the COVID-19 Oral History Act, please contact Stephanie Perera in my office at stephanie.perera@mail.house.gov

Sincerely,

Ami Bera, M.D.

Member of Congress
