Please join us in sending a letter to House leadership asking them to adopt language establishing COVID-19 as an occupational illness for workers at risk of contracting this virus due to their occupations.
COVID-19 quickly escalated to become a public health crisis and a worldwide pandemic. Now, it is rapidly becoming a crisis infecting public employees throughout the United States. This group includes caregivers exposed to the coronavirus in Veterans Health
Administration and Indian Health Service facilities, Transportation Security Officers exposed in airports, corrections officers employed in Bureau of Prison facilities, postal workers, federal fighters, inspectors in meat and poultry plants, and numerous others
serving the public on the frontlines.
Establishing COVID-19 as a presumptive occupational illness would ensure that we are providing our federal workforce with the necessary healthcare and workplace rights they need and deserve. The deadline to sign on is Monday, April 13, 2020.
