Dear Colleague,

I invite you to co-sponsor
H.R. 6384
the Community Meals Fund, legislation that will partner non-profits with small and mid-sized restaurants to address nutrition needs across the nation.

Under this timely legislation, nonprofits could qualify for grants of $500,000 to partner with small and mid-sized restaurants for the preparation and distribution of food to children, individuals, seniors, and families who need it most. This partnership
will bolster food security within vulnerable populations and mobilize the restaurant industry while they provide crucial support to anti-hunger groups.

In wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, waiting lists are
building
in every state across America for programs like Meals on Wheels. Organizations like Meals on Wheels, Food Banks, Nonprofits, and Schools along with other networks are facing an unprecedented difficulty in meeting the need. Therefore, the need to
protect existing funding and create new funding streams is imperative.

From the coast to coast, the culinary and restaurant industry have been allies in the fight against hunger. In emergencies, local restaurants of all sizes have historically responded to times of great need, knowing how to best take care of their communities.
Partnering with nonprofits and anti-hunger groups only strengthens this response!

If implemented, the Community Meals Fund will enable nonprofits and anti-hunger groups to hire restaurant staff. Staff will be hired to store, prepare, cook, and help package, serve, or deliver meals to vulnerable populations during a public health
emergency. Furthermore, this public-private partnership will support school districts that have

suspended
meal distribution for reasons related to COVID-19. The Community Meals Fund will bridge the gap for food insecurities during times of crisis.

Thank you for your consideration. To sign on, please complete this
form
