JOIN Bipartisan Letter to Small Business Administration (SBA) to Clarify Access to Economic Disaster Assistance for Small Businesses

DEADLINE EXTENDED to 6 PM, Wednesday, March 11, 2019. Please click here to join the letter.

Current Cosigners: Kilmer, DeLauro, Herrera Beutler, Adam Smith, Al Green, Pappas, Sánchez, Heck

Dear Colleague,

According to a Morning Consult poll conducted at the end of February, 68% of U.S. adults are either “very” or “somewhat” concerned about the domestic economic impact
of the coronavirus. There are growing concerns over the economic impacts as businesses around the country and the world,
particularly small, local businesses, are reporting challenges due to the unexpected economic impacts of the outbreak. In preparation, the emergency supplemental assistance package passed by Congress and signed
by the President
last Friday opens up the Small Business Administration’s $7 billion in Economic Disaster Assistance to small businesses around the country who are impacted by the coronavirus outbreak. We are seeking to clarify the process the state and
local businesses must follow in order to access economic disaster assistance as soon as possible.

Please join me to seek clarification from the Small Business Administration on their process for states and local businesses to access these much-needed economic disaster assistance funds. As the Stock Exchange temporarily
halted trading
this morning, fears over the economic impacts are growing, and our small businesses are particularly vulnerable. I look forward to your support in clarifying next steps for our states and small businesses and ensuring that our constituencies
can access the economic assistance they desperately need. The deadline to cosign is 6:00 PM, tomorrow, Wednesday, March 11, 2020 (Note: Deadline has been extended). Please
