February 24-28, 2020 is Public Schools Week, a time to celebrate the achievements our public schools are making and honoring the significant contributions and accomplishments of students, parents, educators and education advocates in our public schools.
We will be introducing a bipartisan resolution for Public Schools Week again, identical to H.Res. 254, that recognizes 9 out of every 10 students attend a public school. Additionally, it calls on local, state and federal lawmakers to prioritize strengthening
the nation’s public schools, ensuring every child has the opportunity to attend schools that offer a high-quality educational experience. We know communities are stronger and schools are better when we all work together to support public education and that
the success of the future leaders of this great country critically depends on the support we give today to public education.
During Public Schools Week, national education groups representing teachers, principals, superintendents, parents, civil rights and disability advocates, as well as religious organizations will be highlighting the importance of our public schools and the
positive difference they are making in shaping the future of our country. Public schools are open to every child—regardless of ability, wealth, country of origin, or needs and by strengthening the public school system we strengthen our country.
We ask that you join us in co-sponsoring this resolution and celebrating Public Schools Week. You can learn more about Public Schools Week by going to www.publicschoolsweek2019.org
