Fight Invasive Plant Species, FY21

Deadline for Co-Signers: COB Friday, March 6

Please sign on here.

FY21 Cosigners: Rep. Posey, W. Gregory Steube, Donna E. Shalala, Joseph D. Morelle, Neal P. Dunn M.D.

Dear Colleague:

Please join me in protecting native wildlife by requesting funding for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) to implement programs to better control and eradicate invasive exotic plant species.

As the only U.S. agency that is responsible primarily for the conservation of our nation’s fish, wildlife, and plants, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services (USFWS) is concerned about the impact that invasive species have on our nation’s ecosystems and wildlife.
According to USFWS, an invasive species is one that is not native to an ecosystem and which causes, or is likely to cause, economic or environmental harm or harm to human health.

Impacts of invasive species includes natural habitat degradation, change, or displacement and competition with native species for resources, causing harm to our local, regional, and national flora and fauna.

In order to support the work and programs the USFWS implements to combat invasive plant species across our country, I request that you join me on a letter to the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Subcommittee, strongly urging they provide USFWS
with robust funding for Fiscal Year 2021.

For any questions please email Elena Kochnowicz at

or call 5-1313.

Sincerely,

Alcee L. Hastings
