Sending Office: Honorable Steve Watkins
I invite you to cosponsor H.Res.764, Expressing the support of the House of Representatives for the priorities and goals of the Executive order on combating anti-Semitism.
President Trump has made it a top priority of his administration to tackle the troubling rise of global and domestic anti-Semitism.
Recently, President Trump signed into effect
Executive Order 13899, which brings to light the rise of anti-Semitic sentiment in schools and on college campuses across the nation, and makes clear that Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 applies to anti-Semitic discrimination based on race, color,
or national origin.
In response to President Trump’s Executive Order, Rep. Watkins has introduced
H.Res 764 to express support of the House of Representatives for the goals and priorities of this initiative to combat anti-Semitism. The resolution finds that:
The House of Representatives—
(1) recognizes and supports the priorities and goals of the Executive order on combating anti-Semitism, signed by President Donald J. Trump on December 11, 2019;
(2) is committed to combating anti-Semitism throughout all levels of education, including on college campuses; and
(3) supports the freedom of Jewish individuals to practice their faith free from discrimination and anti-Semitism.
The Anti-Defamation League reports the number of anti-Semitic incidents jumped 48% from 2016 to 2018, with around 30% of those reported incidents taking place on college campuses
or non-Jewish schools. Please join me in supporting President Trump’s initiatives to fight back against the disturbing escalation in anti-Semitism.
