Dear Colleague:

More than 100 million adults suffer from diabetes or prediabetes across the country.  For the millions of Americans at risk of developing diabetes, access to healthier food and regular exercise can reduce the incidence of diabetes in high-risk individuals
by as much as 58 percent.  These preventive measures can decrease the risk of not only type 2 diabetes, but also the chances of heart and kidney disease.

That is why we introduced H.R. 4914, the Diabetes Prevention Semipostal Stamp Act.  Funds raised by this stamp would go toward the National
Diabetes Prevention Program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  Diabetes is an epidemic, but through prevention, we can reduce the pervasiveness of this disease.
