Join the U.S.-Kazakhstan Caucus

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to invite you to join the Congressional U.S. – Kazakhstan Caucus for the 116th
Congress. As co-chairs of the Caucus, we are seeking broad bipartisan participation as we work to recognize and strengthen our strategic, military, and economic relationship with this important ally and critical partner in Central Asia.

Based on Kazakhstan’s geographical location between China and Russia, the importance of the strategic relationship between Kazakhstan and the United States cannot be overstated.  The U.S. and Kazakhstan have worked together to promote security and stability
in the region through initiatives like the Enhanced Strategic Partnership Dialogue, joint-military efforts, C5+1 multilateral meetings, and nuclear non-proliferation efforts.  Additionally, Kazakhstan has supported U.S. military and foreign policy efforts
in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria.  These joint U.S. – Kazakh efforts to promote security in a very strategic region of the world have never been more important than they are right now.

In addition to our shared foreign policy initiatives, Kazakhstan has become a bridge between the East and West, a driver of economic growth in Central Asia, and a stabilizing force in the region.  Kazakhstan has worked actively to develop a market-based
economy.  As a World Trade Organization member, Kazakhstan continues to make great strides while demonstrating openness and a forward looking prospective. U.S. companies have become the single largest source of foreign direct investment in Kazakhstan.

As one of the world’s newest sovereign nations, having won its independence from the Soviet Union only 28 years ago, Kazakhstan continues to face internal challenges.  However, our goal as co-chairs is to continue to work with Kazakhstan, and especially
its newly elected President, Kassym-Jhomart Tokayev, to strengthen the already substantial cooperation between our two nations. We stand ready and willing to provide guidance and assistance when requested.

Therefore, we invite you to join the Caucus and to work with us to continue to foster and strengthen the U.S. – Kazakh relationship.  For more information, or to join the Caucus, please contact:
