Dear Colleague,

In advance of Korean American Day on January 13, please join me as a cosponsor of House Resolution 38, a resolution supporting the goals and ideals of Korean American Day and honoring the contributions of Korean Americans.

Korean American Day commemorates the arrival of the first Korean immigrants to the United States on January 13, 1903. This year marks the 117th anniversary of their first arrival. In 2005, Congress unanimously passed a resolution encouraging the
national observance of Korean American Day. As the representative of the largest Korean population in the country, I encourage you to join me as cosponsor of this important resolution to raise the public’s awareness of the Korean American community’s history
and contributions to our nation.

Today, we have nearly two million Korean Americans living in the United States. The Korean American community has made a profound impact upon our nation and enriched all facets of American life from businesses, non-profits, NGOs, government, military, technology,
medicine, athletics, arts and entertainment, journalism, churches, academic communities, and much more. Through this resolution, we can acknowledge and express gratitude for the generations of Korean Americans who have helped to shape and strengthen our country.

We hope that you will cosponsor this important resolution (H.Res. 38) to help us honor and celebrate the incredible impact of Korean Americans throughout our country. If you have any questions or would like to join us on this legislation, please contact
Charlie Arnowitz (Charlie.Arnowitz@mail.house.gov) in my office.

Sincerely,

Jimmy Gomez
