Co-ops 101: A Multi-Sector Briefing on the Cooperative Economy

Wednesday, December 4, 2019

11am-12pm

121 Cannon House Office Building

The National Cooperative Business Association CLUSA invites you to attend a briefing from co-op leaders that will provide a cross-sector perspective of how cooperative businesses are creating economic and social opportunity for communities across the country.
One in three Americans are members of at least one cooperative business, which thrive in every Congressional district in the United States and contribute $650 billion in annual revenue to the economy. Our panelists will discuss the innovative ways cooperatives
are solving emerging economic challenges, like challenging farming conditions, high energy costs and preserving jobs as a wave of Baby Boomers approach retirement.

Panelists:

  • Curtis Wynn, CEO, Roanoke Rural Electric Cooperative & Board President NRECA
  • Mo Manklang, Communications Director & Policy Lead, U.S. Federation of Worker Cooperatives
  • Brian Cavey, Senior Vice President Government Affairs, CoBank
  • Jeff Troike, CEO Ceres Solutions Cooperative (invited)

Moderated by Doug O’Brien, President & CEO, National Cooperative Business Association

This briefing is hosted by the bipartisan Congressional Cooperative Business Caucus, co-chaired by Rep. Mark Pocan and Rep. Jim Baird.
