Current Original Cosponsors: Lieu, Lowenthal, Torres

Deadline for Original Cosponsorship: Thursday, November 21 at 12pm

Dear Colleague,

As we approach Small Business Saturday, I hope you will join me as an original cosponsor of the Supporting Entrepreneurs and Economic Development (SEED) Act. This common sense bill would ensure entrepreneurs are able to take advantage of the services of
local Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs).

SBDCs are one of our nation’s most invaluable resources for entrepreneurs learning how to plan, establish, and scale their small businesses. Through no-cost, in-person consulting and low-cost training, SBDCs  are funded in part by annual appropriations and
help small businesses with business planning, accessing capital, marketing, and more. Unfortunately, getting the word out about these services remains a persistent challenge. The SEED Act would provide a simple solution by requiring lenders that provide loans
backed by the Small Business Administration to refer entrepreneurs they deny to their nearest SBDC. Those entrepreneurs can receive counseling to improve their odds of approval and strengthen their business plans.

If you have any questions or would like to cosponsor the SEED Act, please contact Cody Willming in my office at
