Next week will mark the fifth annual National Apprenticeship Week, celebrating the benefits of apprenticeships in the U.S.
There are nearly 600,000 apprentices in the country today, including in the vital industries of information technology, healthcare, financial services, advanced manufacturing, building trades, and more. An evaluation of registered apprenticeship programs
in 10 states conducted by Mathematica Policy Research in 2012 found that individuals who completed registered apprenticeship programs earned at least $240,000 more over their careers than individuals who did not participate in registered apprenticeship programs.
Furthermore, according to the Department of Labor, registered apprenticeships have a 94 percent job placement rate at program completion, and participants start with an average salary of $70,000.
Apprenticeship provides businesses with well-trained employees and gives workers a path to new skills and better jobs and careers. Join us and employers, education providers, industry associations, labor unions, and state and local elected officials across
the country in recognizing National Apprenticeship Week by cosponsoring this resolution!
