SUPPORT REAUTHORIZATION OF WARTIME CONTRACTING COMMISSION

September 30, 2019

In
2008, Congress established an independent and bipartisan commission to examine waste, fraud, and abuse in wartime contracting.

Cosponsor: Flood Insurance for Farmers Act (H.R.830)

September 30, 2019

We invite you to cosponsor the Flood Insurance for Farmers Act (H.R.830), to make the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) work better for our nation’s farm
families. This bipartisan bill would lift the de facto prohibition on construction, expansion, or repair of agricultural structures like barns, sheds, and silos in areas designated at risk of floods by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Support Increased Transparency & Efficiency in Student Loans Cosponsor H.R. 4193, the Student Loan Disclosure Transparency Act

September 30, 2019

The burden of student loans has unquestionably taken a toll on millions of American families. As outstanding student loan debt in the U.S. continues to climb—in June of 2019, borrowers owed around $1.6 trillion—various proposals have been
introduced to offer free college, refinance student loans, or cancel student debt altogether. Protecting programs like PSLF and Federal Work-Study, along with increasing Pell Grant funding, would certainly reduce the amount of debt students accumulate,
but these actions alone will not fix the larger problem. Addressing the root of the student loan crisis must center on sharp transparency with borrowers and a loan disclosure that is simple, accessible, and easy to understand.

Cosponsor Bipartisan Legislation to Support Federal Firefighters

September 30, 2019

Federal firefighters are currently denied this right that a large majority of municipal firefighters already enjoy. To qualify for disability retirement, federal firefighters who suffer from an occupational illness must specify the precise exposure that
caused their illness. This burden of proof is extraordinarily difficult for firefighters to meet given the wide variety of conditions and environments in which they work.

Cosponsor: Energizing American Shipbuilding Act (H.R.3829)

September 30, 2019

Our U.S.-flag international fleet—comprised of commercial vessels built and flagged in the United States and owned and operated by U.S. citizens—is in a state of precipitous decline. This important force has dwindled from 1,200 ships just after
World War II to fewer than 80 today. Only 1 percent of America’s ocean-going foreign trade travels on U.S.-flag vessels. Join me in reversing this troubling trend by cosponsoring the “Energizing American Shipbuilding Act” (H.R.3829).

Support Timely Access to Care for Diabetes Patients

September 30, 2019

We are writing to urge you to cosponsor H.R. 808, the Promoting Access to Diabetic Shoes Act, which would allow nurse practitioners and physician assistants to prescribe diabetic shoes for Medicare patients.

Cosponsor: Made In America Act (H.R.3459)

September 30, 2019

I invite you to cosponsor the bicameral “Made In America Act” (H.R.3459). Each year, the federal government spends billions funding infrastructure projects not subject to “Buy American” requirements under current law. The result is American
taxpayer dollars being used to buy foreign products made by workers in other countries: work that can and should be done domestically by U.S. workers.

Strengthen Investments in Workforce Training and Postsecondary Education

September 30, 2019

If you have any questions or wish to cosponsor, please contact Wooyoung Lim (Woo.Lim@mail.house.gov, x53411) in Rep. Trahan’s office.
