Sending Office: Honorable Don Young
The Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides federal grants to states for supplemental foods, nutrition education, and health care referrals for low-income pregnant, non-breastfeeding, breastfeeding, postpartum women, and
children and infants up to age five who are found to be at risk of malnutrition.
Unfortunately there are unnecessary compliance guidelines for infant foods eligible to be served under WIC. These roadblocks make it harder for those in need to attain healthy foods, as well as problems for food suppliers. Currently infant food combinations
are not allowed (e.g., meat and vegetables) or dinners.
I am proud to introduce the INFANT Act, which will eliminate this unnecessary rule so that infant food combinations are allowed. This will allow more healthy food options for WIC recipients and ensure that families are able to feed their children.
Please join me in fighting for better access to healthy foods for infants by cosponsoring the INFANT Act. If you have any questions or would like to cosponsor, please contact Truman Reed at Truman.Reed@mail.house.gov.
