We invite you to join us as a co-sponsor of the Bahamas TPS Act of 2019, which would designate Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for the Bahamas for 18 months.
As you are well aware, Category 5 Hurricane Dorian made landfall on September 1 to devastating effect. Dorian is estimated to be the second-most powerful hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic Ocean and ties the record for the most powerful storm to make
landfall, according to the National Weather Service. Roads, airports, communication grids and other infrastructure across much of the Bahamas have been wiped out.
More than 13,000 homes on the islands of Abaco and Grand Bahama were either severely damaged or destroyed. Moreover, 70,000 people are currently without food and clean water. The Bahamas faces a long and arduous road to recovery. Taking the humane step of
