Dear Colleague –

Please join me in cosponsoring H. Res. 539, a resolution supporting the goals and ideals of the American Legion. As one of the foremost wartime veterans’ service organizations, the American Legion has advocated on behalf of a countless number
of veterans, servicemembers, families, and communities. Additionally, the Legion remains one of the most prominent organizations committed to mentoring youth, sponsoring community programs, advocating patriotism and honor, and furthering a long-lasting devotion
to men and women who served in uniform.

Federally chartered by Congress in 1919, the American Legion is celebrating its centennial this year during the week of August 23rd – 29th. While the Legion is located in Indianapolis – inside the 7th Congressional
District of Indiana that I represent – and National Adjutant Daniel S. Wheeler is convening the centennial’s celebration there, the organization has given countless hours of service and produced millions of dollars in donations at local, state, and national
levels. Contributions from the Legion have truly made a lasting impact on veterans, their families, and our communities across the country.

As the Representative for the 7th Congressional District of Indiana, I am proud to have such an important and meaningful organization headquartered in Indianapolis, especially one that has done so much for the well-being of America’s veterans
and communities. That’s why I have worked with my colleagues in the Indiana delegation from both sides of the aisle to introduce this resolution honoring the American Legion’s legacy of service to our community and many more.

Please join me in cosponsoring H. Res. 539 to honor the American Legion, recognizing its members’ leadership and their dedication to improving the lives of servicemembers and veterans across the country. If you would like to cosponsor this resolution,
please contact Zach Wilkinson in my office at

or 54011.

Sincerely,

André Carson
