Sending Office: Honorable David N. Cicilline
Please join me in cosponsoring the Promoting Apprentices in Public Service Act. As you know, there are currently 585,000 apprentices developing the critical skills necessary to compete in a 21st Century economy. Apprentices that successfully complete an
apprenticeship program earn a higher median annual wage than the median for all workers. In order to build upon the success that these apprenticeship programs produce, the federal government must capitalize on apprentices’ experience and provide resources
to compel more men and women to enter into these programs.
That is why I will be introducing the Promoting Apprentices in Public Service Act. This legislation will direct the Secretary of Education to cancel or repay up to $25,000 in loans for any borrower that received a certificate from a registered apprenticeship
program and then completes two years of full-time employment at a qualifying public service job. This will ensure that the government can utilize the expertise of apprentices while helping cover the costs of their training.
If you would like additional information or would like to cosponsor, please contact Ross Brennan at 5-4911 or
