Cosponsor the Bipartisan Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commemorative Coin Act

Proceeds go to the Smithsonian Women’s History Initiative

Dear Colleague,

Please join in cosponsoring H.R. 2423, the Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commemorative Coin Act, which would direct the Department of Treasury to mint and issue up to 400,000 $1 silver coins that are emblematic of the women who played a vital role in rallying
support for the 19th Amendment to the U.S Constitution.

The Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commemorative Coin Act will not cost any taxpayer dollars—all funding will come from the sale of the coins to private citizens. After the government is reimbursed for all costs associated with producing the coin, proceeds
from the coin will support the Smithsonian Institution’s American Women’s History Initiative. The Smithsonian Institution supports this bill.

This legislation celebrates the tireless work of women’s suffrage activists across the country and I have a deep appreciation for the women who led the charge before us in securing our constitutional right to vote and participate in democracy. It is my hope
that this bipartisan legislation to commemorate 100 years of women’s right to vote will encourage women all across our democracy to continue to be active participants in civic life.

Companion legislation in the Senate, S. 1235, introduced by Senator Marsha Blackburn, passed by Unanimous Consent on June 4, the 100th Anniversary of the U.S. Senate passing the 19th Amendment.
