Sending Office: Honorable Zoe Lofgren
Last week, the Supreme Court held, in
Rucho v. Common Cause, that partisan gerrymandering is not for the courts to evaluate and that the Framers “gave Congress the power to do something about partisan gerrymandering in the Elections Clause”… and that avenue “remains open.”
Please stand with us in welcoming that invitation from the Supreme Court to end partisan gerrymandering and join us as cosponsors of
H.R. 3572, the Redistricting Reform Act of 2019, which was included and passed as a part of H.R.1, the
For the People Act. The text of H.R. 3572 is identical to what the House voted to pass in March, including any amendments to the redistricting provisions of H.R. 1.
By requiring all states to form independent citizen redistricting commissions to draw and approve Congressional district lines, this bill creates a redistricting effort that respects and represents all communities. It ensures that the process is as open,
fair, and depoliticized as possible.
Please join this effort to bring redistricting reform to our federal elections. For more information or to become a cosponsor, please contact Arlet Abrahamian at
firstname.lastname@example.org or 5-3072.
