        Request for Cosponsor(s)

Dear Colleague:

Please join us as a co-sponsor of H. Res. 127, which emphasizes the importance of our alliances with Japan and the Republic of Korea and reaffirms the U.S. commitment to promoting peace and security in the Indo-Pacific region.

Since 1945, the United States has maintained alliances and partnerships with like-minded countries to further our vital political and economic interests. Our mutually beneficial alliances with Japan and the Republic of Korea are amongst our most indispensable
strategic assets, underpinned by our shared values of democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.

In the 2018 National Defense Strategy, the Department of Defense assessed that “the U.S. network of alliances and partnerships remain the backbone of global security” and that increased and sustained investment in these vital partnerships is necessary to
achieve our security goals in Asia as well as globally.

I urge you to join me and my colleagues from both sides of the aisle in cosponsoring this resolution and upholding the United State’s enduring commitment to its allies in Asia.

For more information, to sign on as a cosponsor, or if you have any questions, please contact Raven Bellamy at
