        Request for Cosponsor(s)

Dear Colleague:

I invite you to join me in co-sponsoring H.R. 2527, The Vaccinate All Children Act.

According to the
World Health Organization
, measles cases rose by 300% during the first three months of 2019 relative to that same time span last year.  In the U.S. alone,
555 cases have been confirmed in 20 states since January, which is the second highest number of reported cases since the CDC declared measles eliminated in 2000.

The ongoing epidemic has exposed public safety threats posed by rejecting vaccines.

Research has shown that vaccines are
, keep people healthy, and save lives. One dose of the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccine is
about 93% effective at preventing measles and two doses are 97% effective. Non-scientific and dangerous myths about the association between vaccines and autism have been
debunked by the medical community.

A high immunization rate helps protect those who cannot safely be vaccinated, either because they are too young or have a medical condition, e.g. a weakened immune system. The Measles virus is so contagious that one carrier

can infect up to 90 percent
of the unvaccinated people in their vicinity. Therefore, vulnerable populations rely on a high vaccination rate.

My bill would require students attending public schools to receive vaccinations in accordance with the recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. Medical exemptions would be made available, but all other exemptions would be disallowed.
Compliance with this policy would be made an eligibility requirement to receive Section 317 Public Health Service grants.

The health and safety of children must be our top priority.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
estimates that vaccinations will prevent more than 21 million hospitalizations and 732,000 deaths in the United States among children born in the last 20 years.

I hope you will join me in supporting the Vaccinate All Children Act, which helps safeguard the wellbeing of all children. For questions or to co-sponsor, please contact David Simon in Congresswoman Wilson’s office at or 5-4506.
