The Office of Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal and the National Domestic Workers Alliance invite you to a briefing on the Federal Domestic Workers Bill of Rights.

Where: 2261 Rayburn

When: Wednesday, April 24 at 11am

Speakers: TBD, Legal and labor policy experts; Domestic workers

Please RSVP HERE.

Over 2 million domestic workers throughout the United States take care of our children, our homes and our loved ones as nannies, home care aides and house cleaners. Domestic workers are one of the fastest growing workforces in our nation. Domestic work makes
all other work possible, yet this workforce faces low wages, exclusions from common labor protections and few mechanisms to enforce their rights.

Since 2007, the National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA) has worked to pass nine bills of domestic-worker rights at the state level and one municipal bill, which have ended exclusions and established basic protections so that domestic workers can live and
work with dignity. Still, federal recognition and comprehensive protection for this workforce is long overdue.

This briefing will focus on the draft federal Domestic Workers Bill of Rights, the
first legislation of its kind at the national level
. Legal and labor policy experts as well as domestic worker leaders will provide a deep dive into the provisions of the bill and answer questions from staff.

Please reach out to Jessica Mulligan (jessica.mulligan@mail.house.gov) with any questions.
