Sending Office: Honorable Rosa L. DeLauro
We invite you to join us as an original cosponsor of the Medicare for America Act of 2019.
The Medicare for America health program (profiled by
Jonathan Cohn of the Huffington Post and discussed by
Nobel Laureate Paul Krugman of the New York Times) provides universal, affordable, high-quality health coverage to all Americans. The program enrolls individuals at birth, the uninsured, all those who purchase their health insurance on the individual
market (on- and off-exchange), and all those currently on Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP. Employers can continue to provide employer-sponsored insurance if it is Gold-level coverage. Large employers will be required to direct that contribution toward their employee’s
Medicare for America premiums. Most importantly, employees will have the option to choose Medicare for America over employer-sponsored coverage if they desire.
Medicare for America greatly enhances the benefits currently offered by Medicare and Medicaid, covering prescription drugs, dental, vision, and hearing services. And unlike Medicaid, your zip code does not determine your benefits. The Medicare for America
benefits package includes long-term services and supports and sets a high threshold for all services and items covered. We cannot have a conversation about universal coverage unless we include long-term services and supports that are robust and based at home
and in the community.
Please email Caitlin Peruccio at Caitlin.Peruccio@mail.house.gov or 6-8958 and Osaremen Okolo at Osaremen.Okolo@mail.house.gov or 6-6903 for a summary,
section by section, and more information on Medicare for America. The deadline to sign on as an original cosponsor will be COB, Monday, April 29th.
