Support the USDA Farm to School Grant Program in
To sign on, please fill out this form by COB April 1, 2019
We urge you to join us in supporting additional funding for the USDA Farm to School Grant Program. The USDA Farm to School Grant Program increases the use of and improves access to local foods in schools – boosting farm income and economic opportunities,
while fostering experiential food education for our nation’s children.
While many communities have already benefited from the USDA Farm to School grant program, demand for the program greatly outweighs current available funding. According to USDA, when schools purchase local foods, their purchases trigger even more local economic
activity. In the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, Congress provided mandatory funding of $5 million annually for a farm to school competitive grant and technical assistance program. However we now see this appropriation is not enough to incubate these
programs in all 50 states. We appreciate your consideration of our request for increased funding for this much needed grant program.
The deadline to sign the letter is COB April 1, 2019. If you have any questions about the letter, please contact Kate McCann in Rep. Fudge’s office at Kate.McCann@mail.house.gov or call 66715.
