Dear Colleague:

Please join us in requesting $170 million for the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation, commonly known as NeighborWorks America. NeighborWorks is a congressionally chartered nonprofit
that provides financial support, technical assistance, and training for community-based development.

NeighborWorks partners with more than 250 organizations in every state that are focused on providing access to homeownership and to safe and affordable rental housing. These
organizations are public-private partnerships providing maximum transparency and accountability in their stewardship of scarce federal dollars.

In Fiscal Year 2018, NeighborWorks America:

  • Developed over 13,000 affordable homes
  • Repaired over 75,000 houses,
  • Created more than 25,000 new homeowners,
  • Assisted over 457,000 families with affordable housing

Despite the continued need for affordable housing and NeighborWorks’ success at revitalizing communities, NeighborWorks is at risk of losing its funding. We urge you to fund the Neighborhood
Reinvestment Corporation at $170 million for FY20, a $18 million increase from FY19 levels, which will allow NeighborWorks to increase grants to network organizations.

To sign onto the letter or if you have any questions, please contact Courtney Fogwell in Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell’s office, or Jesse
von Stein
in Rep. Don Young’s office. Deadline for signatures is Friday, March 29.

Sincerely,

Debbie Mucarsel-Powell                      Don Young

Dear Chairman Price and Ranking Member Diaz-Balart:

As the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development and Related Agencies (THUD) Appropriations Subcommittee works on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 appropriations bill, I urge you to fund
the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation at $170 million.

The Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation, known as NeighborWorks America, is a congressionally chartered nonprofit that provides financial support, technical assistance, leadership
development and training for community-based development in the United States.  NeighborWorks® America partners with nearly 250 organizations focused on providing access to homeownership and to safe and affordable rental housing.

In FY2018, NeighborWorks America developed 13,000 affordable rental homes, repaired 75,000 homes, created more than 25,000 new homeowners and assisted over 457,000 families with affordable
housing counseling.  NeighborWorks has demonstrated the ability to attract private sector investments to its affordable housing projects, leveraging $60 of private dollars for every $1 of Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation funding appropriated.

Despite the continued need for affordable housing and NeighborWorks’ success at revitalizing communities, NeighborWorks is at risk of losing its funding.  We urge you to fund the Neighborhood
Reinvestment Corporation at $170 million for FY20, a $18 million increase from FY19 levels.  With the additional funding, NeighborWorks will be able to increase grants to network organizations, enhancing their ability to serve their communities, leverage additional
investment from other sources, and crease opportunities for people to live in affordable homes.

Sincerely,
