Dear Colleague,

Please join us in requesting $20.1 million for the Department of State’s East-West Center (EWC) in the State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations bill.   The Center supports critical programs, such as
Asia Matters for America and the Congressional Staff Program on Asia, which has become an irreplaceable component of our public policy and diplomacy in the Asia-Pacific region.

Established in 1960, the EWC is a national educational and research organization established to promote U.S.-Asia Pacific understanding and relations. The Center plays a critical role in bringing together policymakers, scholars, and students from across
the Asia Pacific region to study political, security, economic, and social issues of common concern. In addition, the EWC’s seminars and training programs have helped to better prepare policymakers, including members of Congress and their staff, to confront
the many ongoing challenges in this region.

We hope you will join us in urging the committee to continue its vital support for the EWC and its invaluable work.

If you have any questions or would like to sign on, please contact Jonathan Spangler at jk.spangler@mail.house.gov. The deadline to sign on to this letter is
March 26.

Sincerely,

Tulsi Gabbard

Member of Congress
