Sending Office: Honorable Bill Posey
I invite you to join me as a cosponsor of the Tax Transparency Act of 2019 (H.R. 1489). This legislation would
require Members of Congress, the President, and Vice President, as well as candidates for such offices, to disclose their individual tax returns.
Americans are sick and tired of the lack of transparency in Washington, D.C. They have heard the horror stories about elected officials using their positions to turn a quick buck for themselves and they have had enough of it.
My bill will shine a bright light on the corruption in this town. The Tax Transparency Act will keep elected officials honest about their work in Washington. With my Tax Transparency Act we can return power back to the hands of everyday people.
Under the Tax Transparency Act, elected federal officials and candidates for those positions will be required to disclose the previous three years of their tax returns. This level of transparency will ensure that only the most qualified
candidates are elected.
If candidates cannot manage their own personal finances with integrity, should we trust them to make decisions about our national finances?
American citizens deserve to have this information available to them when they go to the polls.
For these reasons, I ask you to help me shine a light on Washington, D.C., by cosponsoring my Tax Transparency Act. Should you have any questions or would like to cosponsor this bill, please contact John Shelton (firstname.lastname@example.org)
on my staff.
