Please join us in celebrating Women’s History Month by cosponsoring a resolution recognizing the
heritage, culture, and contributions of American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian women in the United States.
There are significant and pressing issues facing American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian women – such as the astronomical rates of violence, with more than 4 out of 5 Native women experience violence in their lifetime, and the 63 cents that Native
women earn for every dollar of a white man. It is also important that we take the opportunity to acknowledge the significant contributions Native women have made and continue to make to life in this country, even in the face of significant adversity.
The resolution honors the contribution of American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian women since before the inception of the United States, and through it’s development
– including in influencing early
suffragists, breaking through glass ceilings in
STEM and medicine,
civil rights, serving in Tribal
leadership, advocating in the
legal system, contributing to
arts and culture,
revitalizing Native languages, and bravely serving in the
