Panelists will discuss how the 116th Congress can leverage American policy and leadership to promote disability rights worldwide. Panelists will provide an overview of current research on U.S. Agency for International Development and State Department policies
and the impact of these policies on disability inclusion in development. Good practice examples, which highlight how U.S. Government leadership can successfully strengthen disability rights around the world, will be discussed.
The event will also highlight the role of the office of the special advisor for international disability for the Department of State has played in promoting disability rights worldwide through its work with U.S. embassies. In addition, the panel will explore
transferable lessons learned from the World Bank’s new disability framework.
Join us as we hear from practitioners and advocates on how to promote international disability rights, ensure democracies are inclusive, and why these issues should be considered by U.S. policymakers.
