Sending Office: Honorable Peter T. King
From October 15, 2018, to November 5, 2018 His Holiness, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the worldwide spiritual head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, will visit the United States. During his visit His Holiness will visit Pennsylvania, Maryland, Texas, Virginia
and Washington, DC, meeting thousands of members of his community and inaugurating three new mosques. This resolution commends His Holiness and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community for their commitment to non-violence and peace on the occasion of this visit.
As of 2017, the Ahmadi Muslim’s have inaugurated 16,000 mosques and are established in 207 countries. It is estimated that there are 10-20 million Ahmadiyya Muslims worldwide. The Ahmadi community takes its name from its founder and prophet Mirza Ghulam
Ahmad, who was born in British India in 1835. The Ahmadis face persecution around the world, particularly in Pakistan, Indonesia and Algeria, because they believe that their founder, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, was a subordinate prophet to the Prophet Muhammad and
came to revive the true peaceful teachings of Islam.
Despite the persecution they, face Ahmadiyya Muslims continue to preach peace, non-retaliation, and a rejection of radical Islamic extremism in all in its forms. To become an original co-sponsor of this resolution please contact Ryan Woodward of Rep. Peter
King’s staff (Ryan.Woodward@mail.house.gov) or Alexandria Musser of Rep. Speier’s staff (Alexandria.Musser@mail.house.gov ).
