Congressional Biomedical Research Caucus Briefing:
A Revolutionary Look at Evolution
Friday, October 5, 2018
Room 2043, Rayburn House Office Building
Boxed lunches will be available for attendees
We want to draw your attention to an invitation you should have already received from the Coalition for the Life Sciences (CLS). On Friday, October 5th at 12:00 noon,
CLS cordially invites you to attend a briefing entitled A Revolutionary Look at Evolution
in the Rayburn House Office Building, Room 2043. The distinguished speaker will be
Neil Shubin, PhD, from the University of Chicago. Dr. Shubin is the author of Your Inner Fish, and he also served as the presenter and scientific advisor for the Emmy Award Winning three-part PBS miniseries of the same name.
Over a century of research from the fossil record, embryos, and DNA has revealed that inside each of us—in every organ, tissue, cell and gene of our bodies—lies over 3 billion years of the history of life. Through the discovery of transitional fossils and
analyses of DNA in living creatures, we can see the ancient mechanisms that underlie the formation and workings of human bodies.
We hope you will join the Congressional Biomedical Research Caucus to hear from Dr. Shubin as he discusses with attendees his quest to understand the origins of the human body and how that search took him across continents and eons back in time.
Please RSVP to Lynn Marquis at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Congressional Biomedical Research Caucus provides a forum where Members and staff can interact directly with preeminent researchers responsible for important scientific discoveries. Many of the stunning advances, made possible by NIH funding, highlighted
in these presentations have led to improved understanding of the cause, treatment, and prevention of human disease.
If you would like to join the Biomedical Research Caucus, please contact Molly Fishman (Molly.Fishman@mail.house.gov)
in Congresswoman Speier’s office or Drew Hatter (Drew.Hatter@mail.house.gov) in Congressman Stivers’ office.
