Dear Colleague,

As the solar energy industry continues to grow, we are seeing an increased demand for skilled, tech-savvy workers. In fact, as of November 2017, there were more than 250,000 solar workers in the
United States – up 168% since 2010 – and employers are continuing to hire.

Veterans are ideal candidates for working in the clean energy and solar industries, given their leadership skills, work ethic, and technical training. According
to The Solar Foundation
, there are more than 13,000 U.S. veterans working at solar establishments across the country, exceeding the percentage of veterans in the broader U.S. workforce.

Our bipartisan Solar Vocational Education and Training for our Servicemembers (VETS) Act will harness veterans’ talents by providing transitioning servicemembers the opportunity to participate in a workforce training program for careers in the solar energy
industry. This Department of Energy program will include on-base hands-on instruction, industry-accepted certification, and assistance with interview preparation. After completing the program and separating from the military, these new veterans will be highly
competitive candidates for jobs as solar photovoltaic system installers, sales representatives, system inspectors, and other solar-related occupations.

We invite you to join us as a co-sponsor of the bipartisan Solar VETS Act (H.R. 6166) and help ensure our veterans have access to long-term, good-paying job opportunities. Should you have any questions or if you would like to co-sponsor this bill, please
contact Kelly Riddle with Rep. Rosen at (5-3252) or Megan Zavertnik with Rep. Knight at (5-1956).
