Sending Office: Honorable Suzanne Bonamici
Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) invites you to a congressional staff briefing on:
Wednesday, September 5th
10:00am – 11:00am
U.S. Capitol Visitor Center Meeting Room North (CVC 268)
All of Us Research Program Director Eric Dishman
Far too many diseases do not have a proven means of prevention, or effective treatment. We must gain better insights into the biological, environmental, and behavioral influences on these diseases to make a difference for the millions of people who suffer
from them. Precision medicine is a revolutionary approach for disease prevention and treatment that takes into account individual differences in lifestyle, environment, and biology. While some advances in precision medicine have been made, the practice is
not currently in use for most diseases.
The National Institutes of Health’s All of Us Research Program is a key element of the Precision Medicine Initiative (PMI). Through advances in research, technology, and policies that empower patients,
All of Us will enable a new era of medicine in which researchers, health care providers, and patients work together to develop individualized care. With a significant investment from the federal government,
All of Us is expected to engage one million or more volunteers to provide this crucial data that will revolutionize how we treat and prevent illnesses.
In this briefing, Program Director Eric Dishman will discuss how researchers can use data from the program to learn more about how individual differences in lifestyle, environment, and biological makeup influence health and disease. If you have any questions,
please contact Jack Arriaga at Jack.Arriaga@mail.house.gov.
