Lunchtime Briefing on the Secondary Impacts of Autonomous Vehicles

TODAY at Noon

2167 Rayburn House Office Building

Dear Colleague:

By now you should have received an invitation from the University of Oregon for a lunchtime briefing on the secondary impacts of autonomous vehicles (AVs).

While substantial research exists on the technical aspects of AVs, there has been limited discussion or understanding of the secondary impacts this technology will have on communities throughout the country. These include changes to land use, equity, urban
design, real estate, and municipal budgets. Nico Larco, Director of the Urbanism Next Center, will present new research on the positive and negative potential impacts of AVs and will discuss approaches Congress can take to leverage this technology to shape
the cities of the future.

Lunch will be offered at this widely publicized event and the briefing is open to the public. More information on the work of the Urbanism Next Center can be found at http://urbanismnext.uoregon.edu and http://urbanismnext.com.

Please RSVP to Betsy Boyd at eaboyd@uoregon.edu. For more information about the briefing, please contact Jon Bosworth in my office at Jon.Bosworth@mail.house.gov.

Sincerely,

Earl Blumenauer
Member of Congress
