Become an original cosponsor of the Marilyn Monroe Post Office Bill!

Current Cosponsors: Cárdenas, Correa, Schiff

Dear Colleague:

Please join me in cosponsoring a bill to designate the facility of the U.S. Postal Service located at 6531 Van Nuys Boulevard in Van Nuys, California as the “Marilyn Monroe Post Office.”

The late actress, model and singer Marilyn Monroe attended nearby Van Nuys High School and lived in the community with her aunt in the 1940s. Monroe’s connection to Van Nuys was significant, as she later explained that her time there
was one of the happiest in her life. Her hard work and perseverance led her to become a timeless internationally recognized icon. Naming the local post office after her will not only honor her life, but also the rich history of the Van Nuys community.

The Marilyn Monroe Post Office will be a source of pride to the community, especially for students of Van Nuys High School. In a world where many believe wealth, status, or name determine ones destiny, Monroe’s story defies the odds and inspires many others
to believe they too can also achieve similar success.

The Van Nuys Neighborhood Council unanimously approved the proposal to name this post office in Van Nuys after Marilyn Monroe. This decision has been well received and is supported by local government officials, residents and business
owners. This is a
fitting tribute to a woman who held the community to such a high esteem.

If you have any questions, or would like to cosponsor this bill, please contact Jose Villalvazo in my office at (202) 225-6131 or by email at
Jose.Villalvazo@mail.house.gov.

Deadline for originals is Tuesday, June 5th at noon.

Sincerely,

Tony Cárdenas
