Become an Original Cosponsor of the Wounded Warrior Assistance Act of 2018

Dear Colleague,

Please join me in cosponsoring legislation to support single parents with service-connected disabilities who are striving to reenter the workforce.

The Wounded Warrior Assistance Act would provide a reimbursement of up to $1,000 per month for childcare assistance to single parents who are participating in a VA vocational rehabilitation program, and who would otherwise be unable to afford such
child care.

The VA’s vocational rehabilitation programs provide services to help with job training, resume development, job-seeking skills coaching, assistance with starting and running small businesses, and many other important resources.

These programs are an invaluable resource for those with service-connected disabilities who are striving to reenter the workforce, but an inability to afford childcare while enrolled can create significant barriers to completion. This straightforward legislation
will help give single parent veterans the support they need to prepare for, find, and keep good jobs.

After everything these brave men and women have sacrificed for our country, we owe it to them to take commonsense steps to help ease their transitions back into civilian life.

To become an original cosponsor, or for more information, please contact Emily Strombom in my office at
