This year, President Trump took the lead in cleaning up corruption and special interest collusion in D.C. by placing a lifetime ban on White House officials lobbying on behalf of a foreign government. It is time for Congress to follow his lead.
H.R. 3505 prohibits former Members of Congress and senior congressional employees who lobby on behalf of foreign governments from being eligible for any federal benefits resulting from their service on Capitol Hill. Congressional staffers and Members of Congress
who leave public service, and in many cases, go on to work in lucrative positions as lobbyists, should not continue to receive federal benefits.
