Please join the Foreign Affairs Congressional Staff Association (FACSA) and the Embassy of Norway for an informational briefing on Norway, Russia and security in the Artic. How do we deal with an increasingly assertive Russia along NATO’s Northern flank?
As Russia’s neighbor and NATO’s eyes and ears in the North, Norway has a unique perspective on security in the Arctic and the North Atlantic. Join us for a discussion with Norway’s incoming Ambassadors to Moscow and NATO about Russia, NATO and transatlantic
security.

Mr. Rune Resaland is Director General in the Department for Security Policy and the High North in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In this capacity, he is lead adviser to the Norwegian Foreign Minister on transatlantic relations
and Norway’s relations to Russia. As of August, Mr. Resaland will be Norway’s Ambassador to Moscow. Mr. Resaland has previously been Deputy Chief of Mission at the Norwegian Embassy in Washington, D.C., and Head of the International Department at the Storting
(Norwegian Parliament).

Mr. Øystein Bø served as Norway’s Deputy Minister of Defence from 2013 to 2017. In August, he will take up his duties as Norway’s Ambassador to NATO in Brussels. Mr. Bø was Head of the International Department at the Storting from 2010 to
2013. He has previously served as Deputy Chief of Mission in the Norwegian NATO delegation in Brussels, and Director General in the Secretariat of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

FACSA is an officially recognized, bipartisan and bicameral organization tasked with providing networking opportunities, career guidance, briefings on key topics and other engagements for staffers to learn and grow as foreign
policy professionals.
